The Dunimarle Collection
Last year we took a road trip to Duff House in Banff, Aberdeenshire to visit the Dunimarle Collection which was transferred to them from the castle in the mid-1990s. This is an exceptional collection of fine and decorative arts, assembled during the late 18th and 19th centuries. It includes paintings, prints, sculpture, china, glass, furniture, textiles, brasses, weapons and many books.
The collection was brought together by two generations of the Erskine family but it was Magdalene Sharpe Erskine who kept the wonderful collection of fascinating objects together and founded the Erskine of Torrie Institution for the promotion of the Study of the Fine Arts at Dunimarle Castle.
It was interesting to see all the items that had originally been on display and we'd certainly recommend anyone visiting Duff House to see the vast collection for themselves.
